Before World War One the airplae was considered an object of sport and not an object of war, in fact the use of airplanes as a weapon was considered unfair and for sometime a war crime. This all changed in the first world war when the airplane was deamed usefull. The Italians are credited to the first bombing, at a time when most countries had some sort of airforce. This act was followed by the first dog fight, which occured between German and British planes with an exchange of pistol fire. The Germans were the country who developed most of the ideas for planes durring the war with the first plane mounted gun, the first use of reflective painr, and the use of bi and tri winged planes, among other things. The germans were also the country who the red baron faught for, the red baron is credited with more than 80 allied kills and is the most famous pilot of the war. The use of airplanes increased alot over the duration of the war, and plays a major part of current wars.
